Today’s beverage comes from North Cornwall an area with majestic landscapes and excellent water for brewing beer.

This brewery started up their business in 2012 and as stated on their webpage:

“We approach all our beer design in the same way, drawing on the vast gamete of styles and techniques used worldwide. We then use this as a foundation to build upon, but that doesn’t always mean straying too far from the original, more evolution than revolution.”.

Colour: Deep Gold. Medium foamy white head.

Aroma: Fresh tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, mandarin and a hint of peach peel.

Taste: A first explosion of tropical fruit aroma invites you to a cereal taste on the palate leading to a perfectly light balanced sweet bitterness.

This is definitely a well rounded session IPA perfect for summer. Easy to drink with a velvety character and a long lasting delicate hop bitterness.

BREWDOG ZEITGEIST Idiosyncratic Black Lager

ZEIGEIST/ˈzʌɪtɡʌɪst/: the defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time.

A trans-continental schizophrenic beer combining a classic Czech black lager base and the high octane hit of a west coast American hops”. An incredible twist to a classic style that opens your senses to another dimension, leaving the stereotyped society we are living in aside and breaking walls and boundaries to step forward to a nonconformist future.

Colour: Dark opal, nice beige foam that gently leads to a steady layer.

Aroma: Toasted aromas of wood, malts and a light aroma of freshly roasted coffee.

Palate: Silky light bitterness, earthy tart aftertaste. Light beams of coffee and dark chocolate perfectly balanced.

Brewdog continues surprising beer fans with their range of styles and definitely, this beer is one of those you should try before you die. It has all the velvety taste and beauty of a dark beer with the lightness on the palate of a lager.

There are a few eyewitnesses who survived the fury of the Kraken and all of them corroborate that the Kraken looks like a squid but with the size of an island that dwells at the depth off the coasts of the Caribean sea.

Their 8 tentacles are massive! As tall as the tallest mast of a ship and thick… as thick as the thickest part of Chile. It’s mouth has razor like teeth and it’s jaws are as big as Tower bridge. The Kraken easily devours all of anything that it confronts and survives on a diet of whales, sailors and spiced rum.

History says, that one of the biggest cargos of Dark spiced rum from the Caribbean islands met the Kraken on it’s way to Norway. The sailors attempted to kill the Kraken with dynamite, but this just increased the fury of the beast, breaking the ship and killing all the crew.
All the barrels were destroyed in the wreckage, all but one, which was saved from the deepest depth of the sea and which was terribly stained by the Kraken’s Ink.
This barrel became the KRAKEN BLACK SPICED RUM inspiration.

Kraken spiced rum was launched in 2010.

The rum base is from Trinidad and Tobago and is one of the first black Caribbean rums blended with spices.

It is distilled in continuous columns at the Fernandez distillery from naturally fermented molasses and aged in bourbon barrels for nearly 2 years; making a bold, rich, black and smooth delightful beverage.

Next, it’s blended with the finest barrels and a mix of 11 spices; including cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and many others that are kept as a secret in the depths of the ocean, and guarded by the Kraken. The design of the bottle is inspired by a Victorian Flagon and it’s too rings were specially designed for hanging the bottle on a rope to avoid any wreckage when sailing the rough, stormy seas.

Appearance/ Colour : Deep thick liquid reminiscent of squid ink.

Smell/nose/aroma: Nuts, chocolate up front with vanilla coffee and cinnamon.

Flavour/Taste/Palate: Chocolate sweetness, Cola like molasses and vanilla mingle with spices. Clove, cinnamon, ginger and galangal. Finises with a slightly warming with a big punch of vanilla, a touch of coffee and a hint of pepper.

1 part Kraken Rum
3 parts ginger beer
Garnish with a Lime wedge

Prepare a high ball glass with ice and put the 3 parts of ginger beer inside; add the part of Kraken Black spiced rum and stir it to unleash the Kraken’s poison with the ginger beer.

Garnish it with a Lime wedge.

The Kraken Storm takes your classic Dark & Stormy and casts a spiced squall through the drink — full of flavour, it’s a modern staple of the bar.

An explosion in your mouth that was meant to be mixed.

If you are a spiced Rum fan, Kraken deserves its own spot in your liquor compartment.
Unleash the Kraken…..

Today commuting to work a new kind of natural energy drink freshly launched was given to me.

It’s a low-calorie energy drink powered by organic Maca, Griffonia, Schizandra and caffeine from green tea.

It seems that our long night’s chemical shot of Inositol, Pyrodixine, D-Pantothenal and Niacin has a healthier option.

Let’s have some fun!
